Oh man, I wish I had been able to tape this. Stephen Colbert was on right-wing francophobe self-evangelising hubris-meister Bill O’Reilly’s show on Fox News about ten minutes ago. It was gold, pure comedy gold! Colbert to O’Reilly on the Fox host’s ‘liberal’ critics:

“You know what I hate about people who criticise you? They criticise what you say, but they never give you credit for how loud you say it… …or how long you say it.”

If anyone spots it on YouTube or the likes, drop me a line. It should appear in this search at some point, providing somebody captures it.

The Pirate Bay is raising money to buy the tiny, bankrupt “island” of Sealand. Sealand is the abandoned drilling platform gun battery near the UK that was occupied, declared soveriegn, and turned into a offshore data-center for sensitive information. Sealand’s owners have put the “country” on the block, and the Pirate Bay, Sweden’s gutsy, notorious BitTorrent tracker, is soliciting donations to buy it. They’re even promising citizenship to donors. If they don’t get enough to buy Sealand, they’re promising to buy another island somewhere.

Dramatic Scene Between Doctor And Patient (Attached To A Vending Machine):

OK, it’s not up there with Takeshi’s Castle or Pythagoras Switch, but there are several reasons why this short clip is so awesome:

• A guy puts candles out with a frickin’ Lambrini cork from fifteen feet away.
• Being Japanese TV, there are pop-up arrows, fluorescent captions and action replays galore
• Apparently Japanese women are desperately impressed by men with uncorking abilities like this guy, judging by the ‘ooohs’ on the soundtrack. Tommy - take note.
• Yes, the Freudian angle was too obvious to miss.
• There’s a polarised shot of a woman’s face just before he does his thing, just to raise the tension.
• The voice-over guy is just so darned impressed, bless him.

Earlier this week, I posted links to videos of a University of Florida professor delivering a very loopy lecture to business school students — apparently, while really really really high. We’re told he was subsequently fired. I don’t know the story behind the videos (perhaps he was using marijuana or some other medication to treat a serious illness), but they do make for very interesting viewing. UF pulled them from their webserver, but a number of BB readers who’ve become fans of the Apparently Baked Professor’s delivery style have pointed us to new locations.
